The practical answer to “how long does an Ozempic pen last?” depends on the pen strength and the dose your prescriber has written. This guide keeps the answer to label-based arithmetic. It does not recommend a dose or tell you how to change your schedule.

The label-based dose counts

Why the answer can still feel confusing
The confusion is a unit mismatch. Packaging counts doses, the prescription names a strength, and your calendar counts weeks. A “four-dose” pen lines up neatly with four weekly injections, but the starter pen can include different dose strengths in the same device. If your prescription changes, or if you missed a dose, the arithmetic can stop feeling obvious.
This is where a log helps. Track the date, dose as prescribed, and pen strength. If the numbers do not match what you expected, ask your prescriber or pharmacist to reconcile the prescription and the device.
Storage timing is separate from dose count
Dose count is not the same as storage dating. The Ozempic label says that before first use, the pen should be stored in a refrigerator at 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C), not frozen, and kept in the original carton until administration. After first use, the label says the pen can be stored for 56 days at controlled room temperature or in a refrigerator, with the cap on when not in use and protected from excessive heat and sunlight.
